The Internet of Things (IoT) has brought tremendous benefits to society by connecting various devices and enabling them to exchange data. However, the vast number of connected devices has also created new security risks. This research project aims to investigate the security challenges posed by IoT devices and to develop new cybersecurity solutions to mitigate these risks.\nThe project will begin by reviewing the current state-of-the-art in IoT security and identifying the major security threats faced by IoT devices. We will then develop novel security mechanisms that address these threats, such as lightweight encryption algorithms, intrusion detection systems, and secure bootstrapping mechanisms. The project will also investigate the practicality of these mechanisms in real-world scenarios by conducting experiments and simulations.\nThe milestones of this project include analyzing the security risks of IoT devices, designing and implementing new cybersecurity solutions, and evaluating the effectiveness of these solutions. We will also investigate the performance of these solutions in terms of resource usage, energy consumption, and scalability.\nThe potential applications of this research are significant. With the increasing adoption of IoT devices in various sectors such as healthcare, transportation, and energy, the need for secure and trustworthy IoT systems has become critical. The findings of this project could lead to the development of new security standards and guidelines for IoT devices, enhancing the security and privacy of these systems. Additionally, the project could contribute to the creation of a more resilient and secure IoT infrastructure, ensuring the continued growth and development of the IoT ecosystem.
